EV Charging Cost Calculator

Calculate the cost of charging your electric vehicle from its battery capacity, current and target charge level, electricity price, and charging efficiency.

How to Use the EV Charging Cost Calculator

  1. Enter your EV's "Battery Capacity (kWh)".
  2. Enter the "Current Charge (%)" and "Target Charge (%)" you're charging to.
  3. Enter your "Electricity Price (₹/kWh)" and the charger's "Charging Efficiency (%)" (typically 85-95%, lower for AC home charging).
  4. Click "Calculate Charging Cost" to see the energy added and total cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Charging isn't 100% efficient - some energy is lost as heat during the AC-to-DC conversion process. So you're billed for more electricity from the grid than actually ends up stored in the battery.

Home AC charging is typically 85-90% efficient, while DC fast charging can be slightly more efficient at 90-95%. Check your charger or EV manufacturer's specifications for a more precise figure.

Use the EV Range Calculator to find the range from a full charge, divide this charging cost by that range for a cost-per-km figure, then compare it against the Fuel Cost Calculator's cost-per-km for a petrol or diesel vehicle.
