How Working Days Are Counted
The calculator steps through the calendar one day at a time, starting on the Start Date and stopping after the End Date. Both dates are included. Each day from Monday to Friday is counted as a working day, and each Saturday and Sunday as a weekend day. Total Days is simply the two added together.
Because both ends are included, choosing the same date twice gives 1 total day. A Monday-to-Friday range within one week gives 5 working days and 0 weekend days.
Worked Example: October 2026
From 1 October 2026 to 31 October 2026 the calculator returns 31 total days, 22 working days and 9 weekend days (five Saturdays and four Sundays).
Now adjust for your own calendar. Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October falls on a Friday in 2026, so an office that closes for it has 21 working days. An office that works Saturdays except the second and fourth would add back the 3rd, 17th and 31st, giving 24 days.

Adjusting the Result for Indian Workplaces
Subtract holidays that fall on weekdays. The three national holidays are Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August) and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). Other holidays such as Diwali, Holi or Eid vary by state and by year, so check your employer's or state government's holiday list.
Many factories, shops and some offices work six days a week. For them, add the Saturdays back from the Weekend Days figure.
For notice periods, deliveries or legal deadlines, check whether the rule counts calendar days or working days, and whether the first day is included. This tool always includes both ends.
Bank holidays follow the RBI's list for each state, so a bank-related deadline may fall on a different day from your office calendar.
